Despite the scorching heat and insufferable humidity, Hong Kong summers are perfect for cooling down with a swim. But not all pools are equal – some are more beautiful than others, and a few offer incredible views of the city skyline. Here are a few of our favourites.
This beautiful pool in the heart of Admiralty is the perfect place to take a dip with spectacular skyscrapers and waterfront views all around. It’s also a great place to relax with family and friends while enjoying some refreshing drinks at the al fresco Fish Bar and Pool Lounge.
With floor-to-ceiling windows, the water in this swanky hotel pool is kept at a comfortable temperature and the facilities are top-notch. This is one of the best hk pools to relax and soak up the city view while enjoying some delicious drinks.
A popular spot among locals, Hammer Hill Pool is located in a spacious complex in Wan Chai. There are outdoor and indoor pools, as well as a variety of waterslides. The kids will love splashing around here while their parents enjoy the cool air conditioning and gorgeous Victoria Harbour view.
The water at this pool is crystal clear and the pool deck is surrounded by trees, making it a truly tranquil setting to relax in. It’s the perfect place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city, and to forget about your problems. You can even rent a cabana for the day and have a private area to yourself.
This impressive pool was designed by architects from Germany and Japan. It was built as part of a large redevelopment project in Kowloon Park, and opened on 12 September 1989. Originally, it was managed by the Urban Council, but after the dissolution of the Urban Council at the end of 2000, the management of public swimming pools was transferred to the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD).
Aside from the Olympic-sized lap pool and diving pool, this beautiful pool also features a teaching and leisure pool for those who want to relax and recharge. You can even try out the many slides and fountains, but make sure you don’t forget your suncream!
Most of HK’s public pools are operated by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, with 22 in total. Entry is HK$17 on weekdays and HK$19 on weekends. Senior citizens, people with disabilities and full-time students can enjoy discounted admission prices.
Many of HK’s newer residential developments have swimming pool facilities as well. The larger multi-tower complexes typically have a 50-metre outdoor pool and smaller indoor pools, while single-tower buildings may only feature a small outdoor pool – too short to swim laps but still fun for children to play in and burn off some energy. It’s definitely worth checking out these pool options if you’re moving to a new neighbourhood!
