The Hong Kong Book Prize (HKPF) is a new award aimed at discovering and rewarding outstanding articles on global Hong Kong studies. It is the newest addition to the International Convention of Asia Scholars’ (ICAS) “Best Book on Global Hong Kong Studies” series of awards, and will be presented annually. This year, the HKPF will be co-organised by the Society for Hong Kong Studies (SHKS) and ICAS.
This year, the HKPF will be awarded to the best article written in the English language by an individual or institution from anywhere in the world. The winning work must show an exceptional understanding of the multifaceted nature of Hong Kong and its place in the world. It must also have the potential to make a significant contribution to the study of Hong Kong, and contribute to a deeper and more balanced understanding of the city’s development.
In addition to presenting the prize and the trophies, the HKPF will also promote the work of its winners through lectures and other publicity activities. This is a great opportunity for authors to gain greater exposure and increase the impact of their work.
The HKPF is open to all enrolled secondary school students in Hong Kong and can be entered through their teachers. Applicants should submit their entries online before the deadline on 16 September. Teachers can nominate up to 10 students to take part. The winning student will receive a prize of HK$8,000. The school of the winner will also receive a prize of HK$20,000.
